The Committee of ECIS 2015


The committee consists of scholars from a variety of countries (12) and IS backgrounds. All have served as committee members at the most prestigious IS conferences - ICIS, ECIS, ER, BLED and CAISE, to name but a few. They will ensure a professional and international setting for ECIS 2015!

Conference Chairs (CC)

Jörg Becker (University of Münster, Germany)

Jörg BeckerJörg Becker is Professor for Information Systems and Information Management and head of Department of Information Systems at the University of Münster. Since 2004 he has been Academic Director of the European Research Centre for Information Systems; since 2008 he has been Prorector for Structure, Planning and Quality of the University of Münster; since 2011, he has been Honorary Professor of the National Research University at the Higher School of Economics, Moscow. He is a member of the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences. His research and teaching fields encompass Conceptual Modelling, Semantic Business Process Modelling, Business Process Management, Information Modelling, Reference Modelling, Management Information Systems, Retail IS, IS for Manufacturing Industries, and Service Science and E-Government. Jörg has published in more than 400 refereed papers at international conferences and in scientific journals. In addition, he is author/editor of several books, in particular on project management, and he regularly serves on the editorial board of internationally renowned conferences and journals.


Jan vom Brocke (University of Liechtenstein, Principality of Liechtenstein)

Jan vom BrockeJan vom Brocke is Professor for Information Systems, Hilti Chair of Business Process Management and head of the Department of Information Systems at the University of Liechtenstein. He is Co-Director of the Master of Science in Information Systems and Director of the PhD Program in Business Economics. He is Vice President of the Association for Information Systems (AIS), President of the Liechtenstein Chapter of the AIS, Vice President of the German Academic Association for Business Research (VHB), and he serves on the University Executive Board as Vice President Research and Innovation. Jan has published more than 300 refereed papers in the proceedings of internationally renowned conferences and established IS journals, including Management Information Systems Quarterly (MISQ), Journal of Management Information Systems (JMIS), and Information & Management  (I&M). He serves on the editorial review board of the Journal of the Association for Information Systems (JAIS), is an associate editor of Business & Information Systems Engineering (BISE), and is Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Information Technology Theory and Application (JITTA). Jan is author and co-editor of 25 books, including Springer's International Handbook on Business Process Management and the recently published Springer book BPM – Driving Innovation in a Digital World.


Marco de Marco (Catholic University, Italy)

Marco de MarcoMarco De Marco after having served 30 years at the Catholic University of Milan is now full professor of Organisation and Information Systems at the Guglielmo Marconi University in Rome, where he is also director of the Master in Business Administration. Before embarking upon his academic career he worked in the aerospace (Boeing) and computer (IBM, GE and Honeywell) industries as a research engineer and product planning manager. He is author of 4 books and numerous essays and articles, and has written mainly on the development of information systems and the impacts of technology on organisations. He is a member of the editorial board of a wide range of academic journals such as the Journal of Information Systems, the Journal of Digital Accounting Research, Banking and Information Technology, Information Systems and e-Business Management. Marco is Vice President of the Italian Chapter of AIS (ITAIS). He also served as conference officer at ECIS, MCIS and ICIS. He served as representative of Region 2 (Europe, Middle-East Africa) in the Council of AIS in 2008 -2010. For his contribution to the discipline he received in 2010 the award of AIS Fellow.

The structure of the conference will follow tracks that are predefined through a competitive call for proposals. Based on experiences of former ECIS conferences, we are planning about 20 tracks for ECIS 2015. Each track should be hosted by two to four researchers. The PC will consist of those who successfully handed in a proposal and others recommended by them.
